Introduction

The 2nd Young Engineers Satellite is a current educational project of ESA Education Department where students from all around Europe develop an innovative re-entry technology by using space tethers instead of conventional propulsion methods. The YES2 Spacemail is trying to demonstrate a brand new method for payload transportation from Space to Earth and more precisely from International Space Station to Earth. The mission in planned for 2007 with the Russian scientific spacecraft FOTON-M3.

The objective of the YES2 spacemail project is to:

Create enthusiasm in students for space engineering and motivate them to excel, by awareness of, competing for, creating and operating a highly visible yet inherently safe space experiment.
